Memory and Brain Power
How to avoid memory loss, poor circulation and brain damage - naturally
A poor lifestyle will lead to chronic brain inflammation; poor blood circulation and, eventually, brain damage. The $64,000 question is "what are the biggest threats to brain health?" Once you have the answer - it's easy to avoid chronic (unwanted) stress and health problems.
The brain is extremely sensitive to the negative effects of inflammation. So, if you want to improve your brain power - reduce inflammation throughout the body with these great tips below.
According to Dr. David Jockers, people must avoid the following items:
1. Gluten - commonly found in wheat, barley and rye can cause excessive brain inflammation.
2. Unfermented soy products have enzyme inhibitors which can actually damage the memory center within the brain. Therefore, limit your consumption of tofu; soy burgers and soy milk. By the way, fermented soy like, tempeh or natto is o.k. to eat in small amounts.
3. Blood sugar imbalances - avoid the over consumption of all sugars, including those found in fruit! Keep in mind, Alzheimer's disease is actually thought to be diabetes of the brain.
Let's not forget the dangers of fluoride; toxic fats; poor posture; heavy metals like, mercury-based tooth fillings; poor sleeping habits and destructive emotions. All of these dangers place a tremendous stress upon the brain and diminish its ability to function properly.
Can a change in your diet actually boost brain power?
The answer is absolutely - yes! Let's take a closer look at just a few of the best brain-building foods to improve brain function. These are listed in no particular order, but are extremely effective at producing great results!
Ashwaganda is widely revered as one of the best herbs in Ayurvedic medicine. In Sanskrit, ashwagandha means "the smell of a horse," referring to the ability of this herb to give you the strength of a stallion! Ashwagandha can help lower stress hormones; reduce inflammation and protect you from oxidative (free radical) damage.
Apple cider vinegar is loaded with healthy acids and enzymes which feed the healthy bacteria within our gut. Remember, poor digestion causes "leaky gut syndrome" - which leads to inflammation of the digestive system and brain. So, help your gut (and liver) detoxify by consuming apple cider vinegar.
And, let's not forget those healthy fats from food like, coconut oil or grass-fed meats. Don't forget - the brain is 70 percent fat, so be sure to feed the brain what it needs to function well. Some other "alkaline" fats would be extra-virgin olive oil, avocados, almonds and pumpkin seeds. In addition, be sure to load up on those essential (omega-3) fatty acids from wild fish, flax seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds and walnuts. (Organic - of course)
Naturally, there are many other nutrients that support healthy brain function like, raw chocolate (Cacoa); cinnamon; brown rice protein; hemp protein; and cage-free, pasture eggs.
